Best Time to GO

As it's a drier arid country, one can visit Namibia throughout the year but the 'peak' season would be the dry season from June - October.

Welcome

day

1-2

After breakfast on day three you transfer to Kulala Airstrip for your morning charter flight to Swakopmund, arriving Swakopmund midday.

This low level scenic flight takes you over Dunes and desert and  to the Skeleton Coast, where the scenery is spectacular, where the dunes and the desert meet the Atlantic Ocean.

The flight down the coast takes you over the site of the Eduard Bolen shipwreck, and will land at Swakopmund Airport.

You will be met and transferred to the Hansa Hotel, in the centre of Swakopmund.

Swakopmund is a charming town, with German colonial buildings and great shops and seafood restaurants. It’s a great place to chill and ‘do your own thing’.

There is also a lovely beach and swimming is safe, although the cold Atlantic Benguerra current may be a bit cool.

3-4

After breakfast on day eight you will be transferred to Swakopmund Airport for your midday charter flight to Doro Nawas Camp, arriving at Doro Newas .

The flight takes you north along the Skeleton Coast to the vast Palmwag concession in Damaraland.

Between the Ugab and Huab Rivers in Southern Damaraland lies a vast and un-spoilt wilderness. This area boasts magnificent desert mountain scenery.

Doro Newas Camp is situated in the ruggedly beautiful Damaraland area, on a small, rocky outcrop within the floodplain of a small tributary of the Huab River. This exciting new destination is a joint venture between Namibian investors, the local Doro Nawas community and Wilderness Safaris. The camp is located in the valley of the dry Aba-Huab River with spectacular views of the Etendeka Mountains to the north and the red sandstone cliffs of Twyfelfontein (famous for its San rock engravings) to the south.
The unique lodge design allows for a un-spoilt panoramic view of this diverse and dramatic landscape, which varies from tabletop outcrops, small canyons, dry riverbeds to savannah and grassland vistas.

The magnificent terrain holds all the possibility for a sighting of the rare desert-adapted elephant while enjoying a nature drive or relaxing, viewing the stars from the rooftop of the main area or from your private unit veranda.
Guests are housed in units which combine natural stone and canvas walls with wood and glass doors, shaded by a thatch roof. The design and décor blends into the surrounding scenery, with attention to comfort and luxury in these sometimes-abrasive semi-arid desert conditions.

5-7

After breakfast on day eight, transfer to Doro Nawas Airstrip nearby, for your Wilderness Air charter flight to Damaraland, to Desert Rhino Camp.

The flight takes half an hour, north to the vast Palmwag concession in Damaraland.

Between the Huab and Hoanib Rivers in northern Damaraland lies a vast and un-spoilt wilderness. This area boasts magnificent desert mountain scenery - the ‘Etendeka’s’ - conical hills with eroded tops that look similar to ancient volcanoes.

There are fascinating geological formations, archaeological sites and a unique variety of desert fauna and flora.

It's also the roaming ground for the rare Desert Black Rhino and Desert Elephant.

Desert Rhino camp is a research base camp located within the Palmwag concession, in an area frequented by Black Rhino and closed to the general public.

The only way to observe the rare desert Rhino is on a drive and then tracking by foot from this camp.

The theme of this camp is nature excursions into the rocky desert area conducted to search for the rare and endangered desert elephant and rhino, and both are seen on a frequent basis.

The movement of Black Rhinoceros, desert Elephant, Oryx, Kudu, Springbok and other species are dictated by the presence of food and water. Desert Lion and Cheetah occasionally move in and out of the area.
